What is the Advisory Board?

The Students’ Association Advisory Board plays a key role in guiding how we grow and develop. It exists to champion student voice and support the strategic direction of the Association.

The Board provides advice, insight, and constructive challenge. It helps make sure that the services we deliver and the decisions we influence reflect the needs and experiences of students.

The Board includes Student Leaders, Student Members, university representatives, and External Members. This mix of perspectives ensures every discussion is informed, balanced, and focused on what matters most to students.

Why this role matters

As a Student Member, you will help shape the bigger picture.

You will contribute to conversations that:

  • Influence the direction of the Students’ Association

What we are looking for

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Want to improve the student experience for others
  • Are confident sharing your ideas and listening to different perspectives
  • Are curious, open, and motivated to get involved
  • Bring your own experiences and ideas to the table

You do not need previous board experience. What matters most is your motivation and your willingness to contribute.

What you will gain

This role is a chance to grow your confidence and develop valuable skills while making a genuine impact.

You will:

  • Gain insight into governance and decision-making
  • Build your confidence in professional discussions
  • Work alongside student leaders and experienced board members

  • Develop skills in communication, collaboration, and critical thinking

It is also an opportunity to be part of something that creates change for students now and in the future.
