Announcement: Unitu Platform Deactivation
After careful consideration we have made the decision to deactivate the Unitu platform. The platform will be deactivated on Friday 24th April 2026.
We are aiming to resolve any existing posts before we deactivate the system. If we are unable ro resolve a post before then, we will be recording all post details and picking them up when the system is deactivated.
The anonymity feature on boards enables users to post items and comments anonymously. We will be deactivating this feature across all boards on Thursday 16th April 2026. This will enable us to identify users with outstanding posts or comments. We will only contact these individuals where we are unable to resolve a post prior to deactivation.
We have several boards that has received no posts of other activity. We will be deactivating these boards on Friday 17th April 2026. Users who were linke to these boards will still be able to post on the overall University board.
We will be deactivating all boards with the exception of the University-wide board on Wednesday 22nd April 2026. Any posts the remain open will be moved to the University board.
We will be working with colleagues to resolve and respond to any outstanding posts prior to the platform being deactivated on Friday 24th April. Any unresolved posts at deactivation will be recorded and resolved off system with the identified post submitter directly.
The Unitu platform will be deactivated.

Below we have aimed to answer any questions you may have about the decision to deactivate Unitu and what comes next.
If you have a question that is not answered here then contact the Students' Association team by emailing studentvoice@arden.ac.uk
Why we decided to deactivate Unitu?
We considered many factors when making the decision to deactivate Unitu. These included engagement, cost, and our future approach to empowering students as partners in their student experience. This was also informed by our student voice project work that will shape how your voice will work at Arden.
Ultimately, it was felt that the platform no longer provides the features and flexibility to support our student community and the various opportunities being developed to enhance your say.
Does this mean we are disinvesting in student voice?
Absolutely not.
This decision was made as the platform no longer meets our needs. Therefore, we are refocusing resources to create something that will meet our future needs and better enable you to have a say on your experience. This is an opportunity as we are keen to have you, as our members, involving in shaping this platform.
What will be replacing Unitu?
Currently, we do not have a replacement platform that is ready to launch. However, the Students’ Association operates a system, that supports the website, that provides the functionality and flexibility that we hope would be the solution.
We could have replicated the Unitu system, but we felt that this would simply transition the same concerns from one platform to another. Therefore, we intend over the next couple of months to work with stakeholders to custom build areas of the site that meet the needs of departments, campuses, and other areas engaging in student voice initiatives.

We want to celebrate the successes with impactful changes that occur through student and staff collaboration. Together We Changed is a feature on Unitu which does just that. You can see the actions taken by staff as well as students to improve an aspect of your student experience at Arden when a post is resolved. Sometimes, a resolution may not lead to a drastic change but would have resolved small teething problem. In such cases, the post would be closed, and students would still be able to see the actions taken to resolve the post.
