Ever felt like university messages don’t always land at the right time, in the right place, or in the right tone?
This is your chance to change that.
The University Student Communications Team is launching a Student Communications Panel.
This is a new student voice initiative putting students at the heart of how the University communicates. We're looking for passionate, curious students who want to help shape the implementation of a student communications strategy that genuinely works for students.
What is the Student Communications Panel?
The panel is a group of student volunteers who will work directly with staff through interactive workshops, meetings and collaborative activities. Together, you’ll help inform and influence how student communications are designed, delivered and improved across the University.
This isn’t about being an expert, it’s about bringing your lived student experience, sharing honest feedback, and helping make communications clearer, more relevant and more human.
What will you get inovlved in?
As a panel member, you’ll contribute to real conversations and decisions around:
- Communication channels
Where should students hear from the University? Email, social media, learning platforms, in‑person, or something new?
- Communication frequency
How often is too often and when do messages actually matter most?
- Tone and style of messages
What feels supportive, clear and respectful? What doesn’t?
Your insights will help shape the implementation of the University’s student communications strategy, ensuring it reflects what students actually need and value.
Why get involved?
Being part of the Student Communications Panel means you will:
✅ Have a direct influence on how the University communicates with students
✅ Develop skills in communication, collaboration and strategic thinking
✅ Gain experience that looks great on your CV and future applications
✅ Meet other engaged students and work closely with staff
✅ Help improve the student experience—not just for you, but for everyone
Who can apply?
We want to hear from all students, whatever your course, level of study, background or mode of learning. You don’t need prior experience just an interest in student communications and a willingness to share your views.
Your perspective matters, and diversity of voices is essential to making communications work for everyone.
We are particulary interested in hearing from a broad range of students that represent the diversity of our student population.
