Your Students’ Association is here to empower, advocate for and support you. We were established in 2021 and are building the foundations of the association so we can deliver our purpose. We believe:
- Students should be led by students
- Students are passionate about their academic experience
Your Voice
We started a project to understand ‘Your Student Voice’ and many of you engaged with the activities we ran relating to your academic interests. Your participation in the activities made us realise that the academic representation system as it currently exists needs to be reviewed.
Through your participation we recognised that:
- Few students were aware of the representation system and how to engage with it effectively
- You wanted student representatives to be advocates for student interest matters
- You want student representatives to not only gather feedback but to act on feedback too
This led us to work on reviewing and enhancing the Student Representation system at Arden. In order to incorporate everything that you said, we decided to create three micro-initiatives and enhanced our vision to empower you. The three micro-initiatives are:
- Student Voice Aware
- Student Voice Champions
- Programme Representation
Student Voice Aware
Student Voice Aware is an open course where you can learn about your student rights, the power of your voice and opportunities available to express your voice. This course will be developed and released soon.
Student Voice Champions
Student Voice Champions are volunteers at module or study group level who will act as communication and feedback champions for students to be heard. They will have the opportunity to engage in forums, consultations and focus groups as well as gathering insights from day-to-day student experiences which they can share with relevant stakeholders including programme representatives.
Programme Representatives
Programme Representatives are volunteers who work in partnership at programme level to co-create actions, and act in the academic interests of students. They ensure that your course quality is maintained and enhanced which ultimately can help in making sure that your degree award remains relevant and leads you to succeed in your future. They do this by engaging in quality assurance processes at Arden University.
So, what happens now?
We will continue the development of these initiatives and share updates on our website.
