It's up to you!

We recommend checking out your candidates manifesto. Read what they have to say about the challenges they think you are facing as a community and what they would like to prioritise if elected. See what relates to you.

You may find that you like the ideas of more than one candidate and that's ok. Our voting system allows you to rank your candidates in order of preference.

When you start at Arden University you are not just starting a course, but joining a growing community of students, learning, supporting, and developing together.

You also become one of our members, meaning you have a say and a vote in what we do.

We are student-led and work to empower, advocate, and champion you, to change and enhance the experience of all students through your Student Leaders.

The Student Leadership Elections are your chance to decide who will be your Student Leaders and shape the student agenda over the next year.

Your voice is important and we want to provide you with as many opportunities to express your voice and drive change to make things better.

Voting is one of the most impactful things you can do, as it determines who will represent you in deciding the developments you want to see across the university.

Why should you vote?

  • To ensure that your views are heard and listened to
  • So you can be empowered to drive changes to your student journey
  • To have the challenges you face recognised
  • To get the best experience you can from your time at Arden University
  • To create more opportunities and unlock your potential
  • Because your opinion is important!

Taking just a couple of minutes out of your day is all you need to action the change you want to see. Vote for your priorities, your challenges, and your Student Leaders.

There are many students across the university, but yours could be the deciding vote. You can make a difference!

Voting must close on Friday 20th June at 12:00pm (GMT)

Your candidates want to make a positive impact to your student experience and your vote can make all the difference.

Voting is digital and takes place online through the Students' Association website. All you would need to do is:

  1. Log into the Students' Association website, using your student credentials.
  2. Click on the VOTE NOW button on the homepage.
  3. Cast your vote for the roles within the election.

You can check out our step by step guide to see what voting looks like and how you can do it.

At Your Students' Association we never want to see your vote go to waste. Every year we have great candidates put themselves forward to be your Student Leaders and they all have great ideas that sometimes makes it hard to just choose one you might like. Therefore, we use ALTERNATIVE VOTE, which means that you get to rank the candidates in order of preference.

Alternative Vote, often referred to as preferential voting, means that you list your candidates in order of preference with your most preferred being number one, second preference as number two, and so on until you have listed all your prefered candidates. This is your vote, and your preference, so if we only want to rank a couple of candidates and not all of them then that is fine just list the ones you do prefer and cast your vote.

When we count the votes we look to elect the candidates have an overall majority. This means that candidates need to earn 50% of the valid votes to win.

Read more about alternative vote in our alternative vote explained section.

Re-Open Nominations (R.O.N.) is an option for voters where they are not happy with all, or some, of the current candidates standing in the election. RON appears on the ballot for all roles and votes for RON are counted in the same way as those for candidates. Therefore, this means that RON is able to win any of the roles available.

If RON does win the election then another election will be held to elect any of the roles that RON won. The original candidates will be allowed to stand again in the new election, but it gives the opportunties for new candidates to stand.

Yes! You can pick as many choices as you want, and then submit your vote. This doesn't mean you have to put every candidate into your preferences.

In terms of voting, this makes the majority total lower for the next round of candidates, as there are less votes available.

What is Alternative Vote?

Alternative Vote (AV) is a voting method where voters are able to rate the candidates in order of preference. This means that if their favourite doesn't win, they can still have a say.
