About me
A little about me
My name is Victoria Samuel Etim, a Master's student in Public Health.
I am a distance learner and a proud healthcare professional.
I am also someone who finds strength in faith, community, and perseverance. I believe leadership is about service.
What motivates me to want to become one of your next Student Leaders
I am running for Vice President Education because I know first hand how powerful education can be and how difficult it can be to access and navigate it, especially when life throws challenges your way. As someone who has had to overcome personal obstacles while pursuing my studies, I want to make sure every student feels seen, supported, and heard.
Why you should vote for me
Why I think I would make a great Student Leader
As a student myself, I have experienced both the strengths and shortcomings of our current system. As a distance learner, I know what it feels like to be left out of the conversation, and I am committed to making sure no one is overlooked. My focus is on all students, and I bring empathy, lived experience, and the energy to turn your concerns into change.
I promise to be a voice for all students on-campus, online, UK-based, and international. I will lead with empathy, persistence, and faith in our collective ability to make education more responsive,
inclusive, and empowering for every learner.
Let's reimagine the student experience together.
Vote Victoria Samuel Etim for Vice President Education because your voice matters!
What I think is the biggest challenge facing students at Arden
The biggest challenges faced by Arden University students especially the distance learners are the limited access to lecturers and the delayed response times and feedback. Many students feel isolated in their academic journey and struggle to get timely support, which can impact learning outcomes, confidence, and overall academic success. These challenges can leave students feeling disconnected, frustrated, and unsure of their academic progress.
This is not just a complaint, it is a call to action.
We need change!
What I pledge to do if elected
My first priority will be to
Improve Access to Lecturers and Academic Support
Many students on-campus and distance learners alike face delays in accessing academic help.
I will:
- Advocate for better scheduling of drop-in sessions, with more availability and fairer booking systems.
- Push for clear expectations on lecturer response times, so students aren’t left waiting endlessly.
My second priority will be to
Expand and Strengthen Tutorial Opportunities
One-hour tutorials every week or two are not enough especially for distance learners.
I will:
- Call for more flexible tutorial formats with extended time including small groups and breakout sessions.
- Support course reps in escalating concerns when tutorials are not meeting students’ needs.
- Student voices should shape policy and practice. I will regularly engage with course reps, schools, and academic support teams and endeavour to solve problems before they escalate.
My third priority will be to
Champion Feedback that Helps You Grow. You deserve feedback that supports your learning.
I will:
- Work to improve the speed and quality of feedback across all modules
- Push for transparency in grading and clearer explanations of academic standards.
- Fight for every student to have a voice in decisions about curriculum and assessment design.
