NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

What Is the Election and Why Do We Do It?

Elections are a way to appoint individuals into roles, but instead of providing a CV, your potential leaders will create candidate statements (manifestos). And finally, instead of a recruitment panel having the power to decide, you, our students, have the power by voting for your preferred winners.

The Student Leadership Elections are the biggest elections to happen throughout the year at your university. They are a chance for students to decide on who their student leaders will be. These students will represent, advocate and campaign for your academic interests and needs to ensure your student journey is truly impactful.

Our Student Leadership Elections are also your chance to step into leadership and nominate yourself for a role that you are passionate about. You could be one of our next student leaders, make your mark, and help drive what is next for Arden and your Students’ Association.

The Student Leadership Team Roles

Ensuring you have strong and effective student leadership is important to us and why we have been running the Student Voice project. Your input into this project means that we now have three student leadership roles available. These are:

  • Student President: is the senior representational leader of the Students’ Association and plays a fundamental role in advocating for the needs of students, championing key challenges and providing a student-focused voice in various committees or with senior colleagues.
  • Vice President (Education): represents and advocates for the academic interests of all Arden University students. Being the primary student leader on the educational experience of students they will organise, and support students engaged in academic representation to make impactful changes for their students.
  • Vice President (Student Needs): is the student representational leader responsible for advocating for student's fundamental needs, championing inclusive student services & opportunities and developing student community at Arden University.

Nomination Eligibility Criteria

All these roles are full-time, and anyone successfully elected to them will be on a 12-month full time contract of employment.

To be eligible to participate (nominate yourself to stand) you must:

  • Be a fully enrolled Arden University student who has not opted out of being a member of your Students' Association.
  • Or currently in a student leadership role at the Students' Association at the time of the election.

To be eligible to take office you must:

  • Have the right to work in the United Kingdom or Germany
  • Not in the process of being withdrawn from their studies
  • Be able to start a 12-month contract of full-time employment from October 2025
  • Provisionally approved for a break in learning where relevant

This information will be collected at the point of nomination and any candidate who does not meet the criteria will not have their nomination approved. We want to assure you that these criteria are not in place as a barrier, but to ensure that those students who are elected are able to take office.
