You made your choice, you cast your vote, and we are pleased to announce the results of the Student Leadership Election 2025.
In this years election we introduced a new system, two new roles, and a total of 1,178 of you voted.
Your votes were counted and verified, and your new Student Leadership team will be:

Student President (Left): Jay Agbaje

Vice President Education (Middle): Victoria Samuel Etim

Vice President Student Needs (Right): Daniela Pop Buia
They will start their roles (term of office) at the start of November.

How is this election counted?
We use alternative voting as the most fair and effective way of electing your Student Leaders.
This means that when you vote you put your candidates in order of preference. So, if you choose one candidate that you want to win you can
When we count the votes, we first work out the quota. This is the number of votes a candidate needs to win. This is worked out by dividing the total number of valid votes by the number of available positions plus one. For example, if we have a role with one position available and 400 valid votes, the candidate would need 200 votes or more to be elected.
Results for Student President
The Student President role recevied 1,108 valid votes, making the quota 554.
At the first stage of the count. Jay Agbaje recevied 676 votes and is duly elected your Student President.

Results for Vice President Education
The Vice President Education role received 602 valid votes making the quota 301.
At the first stage of the count, no candidate received enough votes to reach the quota.
Ro-open Nominations, Main Osipov, and Magdalena Pochyluk where therefore excluded as the candidates with the lowest number of votes and any second preference votes were redistributed. The number of valid votes remaining dropped to 576 making the quota 288.
At this stage, no candidate received enough votes to reach the quota.
Rodolfo Portes was excluded as the candidate with the least amount of votes and any other preferences were distributed to the other candidates. The number of valid votes remaining dropped to 520 making the quota 260.
At this stage, no candidate received enough votes to reach the quota.
Momna Anwar was excluded as the candidate with the least amount of votes and any other preferences were distributed to the other candidates. The number of valid votes remaining dropped to 434 making the quota 217.
At this stage Victoria Samuel Etim received 227 votes, meeting the quota and being duly elected your Vice President Education.

Results for Vice President Student Needs
The Vice President Student Needs role received 547 valid votes, making the quota 273.5.
At the first stage of the count, no candidate received enough votes to reach the quota.
George Ovbiolokun, Jessica Menezes De Oliveira, Sandrine Masenga, Tanaka Sekitoleko, Michael Smith, David Opare, Re-open Nominations, and Tristian-Errol Brown were excluded as the candidates with the lowest number of votes. They were excluded together as their votes combined would not surpass the next candidate with the lowest number of votes. Any other preference votes were redistributed to the remaining candidates.
The number of valid votes remaining dropped to 516 making the quota 258.
At this stage Daniela Pop Buia received 266 votes, meeting the quota, and being duly elected your Vice President Student Needs.
